Happy Thanksgiving!  Enjoy your feast without regrets.  Lead the way to healthy great food this holiday season and don’t fall victim to thinking that it is about the food!  The true thanksgiving message is about giving not receiving.  Sharing a meal and enjoying each others’ company. Make the memories the big event, not the food.

As you consider your plans for the goals you will have for your life this year, I really hope that implementing what you have learned from me will continue to be at the forefront of those goals. Remember that the Top 5 New Year’s Resolutions every year are: 1) Lose Weight 2)Get organized 3)Spend Less Money 4) Enjoy life 5) Get fit and healthy! I love #5, because a fit healthy body will live LONG and STRONG!

Fruit TurkeyTIPS FOR THE THANKSGIVING SEASON:

I made this Fruit Turkey for guests last week and it was lots of fun! Try it this season and wow your friends and family!!

  1. Don’t “gorge” yourself all at one time on the big meal – graze the meal and make it last!
  2. Don’t not eat all day to “save up” for the big meal.  VERY BAD IDEA.  You need to eat your meals the way your health coach taught you and enjoy this meal in moderation, or you will be starving and make very, very bad choices.  Those choices will lead to regret.
  3. Bring a dish to share – make it one that is pretty and festive BUT one that is Health Coach approved! Like the Toasted Quinoa w/ Cranberries, or the Simple Seared Green Beans w/ pomegranate seeds, or Herbed Couscous – use Israeli Couscous, aka Pearl Couscous – you will love it.
  4. Drink one glass of red wine (with the meal!!!) but sip it slowly and drink water with it.
  5. Eat ONE small piece of pumpkin (not pecan ) pie. No whip cream, especially fake whip cream.
  6. Use REAL butter not margarine. (Bring your own)
  7. Eat a baked sweet potato, not casserole (especially if it is filled with marshmallows).
  8. Stay away from processed box “food” – like stuffings and fake potatoes, etc.
  9. Drink lots of water . . . before, during and after the meal, as well as the next day!
  10. Remember, there is another month of celebrations and parties, so pace yourself or you will be back in my office with a new goal for the new year! (and i won’t make it easy on you!)

As you enter this Thanksgiving season, remember what matters most is family time not food time! The foods is moments on the lips and then sinks to the belly and hips. Please eat and drink responsibly.
