Are you a Smart Shopper? I sure hope so, because otherwise you are wasting your money. I hate that I have to say that, but food is fuel! Why spend your money on what will not fuel your body? Money is hard to come by so being a Smart Shopper is key to invest in your future. If you do not invest in your health, you will only subsidize your illness.
Being a Smart Shopper is not as hard as you think, especially when you get just a few smart shopping tips! For over 16 years I had been taking people on what I used to call “Food Tours” to educate them on the valuable foods they were missing out on! After becoming certified with Dr. William Sears, MD as a health coach, I adopted his term “Smart Shopping” trips and I love it! Let’s be smart and well informed so that we “invest” our money, and not spend or waste it! My Smart Shopping trips are now one of the most recommended services that I provide next to my ICP (Individual Coaching Program). These clients make a 7-week commitment and become a student of nutrition as they reach for their goals with the help of the “Coach in your Corner” so that a lifestyle change is possible. Due to the time consuming, in-depth training that I offer during this trips, I now only offer these SS trips to those who are committed to the 7-week journey. This 2-hour shopping education is a key to the success of my ICP clients and here’s why:
The average supermarket now carries 43,844 different products. How can you even begin to make good choices when there are so many products from which to choose? Going shopping can be overwhelming just from that standpoint but add to that a parent’s desire to feed the family a nutritious meal and they may just give up and give in to the power of the cheap and convenient! The only benefit of that is that it is cheap and convenient! Moms and Dads want better for their kids than cheap or easy! However, most shoppers report that an abundance of choice can complicate decision-making every time they step foot in the store! In fact, five percent of shoppers will simply walk away empty-handed when the abundance of choices makes selection too overwhelming. This grieves my heart, because it does not need to be so complicated! A few good tips and some amazingly tasty recipes from your Whole Food Health Coach and you are off and running with confidence.
Most of what you hear, see, or read is nothing more than marketing. Don’t “buy” the flashy, celebrity-endorsed, psychologically-studied, rhetoric. Literally . . . DON’T BUY IT! The bigger the name, the worse the product is in many cases. READ the ingredients! If you can’t pronounce it, don’t buy it. If you wouldn’t eat that one ingredient by itself, then don’t eat it in your food. (My clients have heard this all before.) Know what’s in your food. Read the ingredients. Don’t follow blindly simply because the words on the box, bag, can, or jar say things like “Natural” (if you know me at all, you know this is a word that I hate!) It means almost nothing these days. Read the ingredients.
There is so much more that I would love to say, because I get so passionate about helping you! You are the reason I do what I do! Let me know if I can help!
