Lego is celebrating 6 decades with Stephanie Wolfe! It’s okay, I’ll share my 60th years with the most famous toy in our country. BUT, I’ll bet they didn’t plan to complete 60 Goals by 60 Years Old! I did! It is my 60 x 60 List! (60 by 60). You see, I found out that Lego and I will be 60 years old this year. (Well, I already knew I’d be 60, but I didn’t know about Lego.) Yep, I leave the 50s behind on July 11, 2018. My goal since January has been to complete a list of things I want to do by the time I turn the big 6-0! I have been working through my list with enthusiasm (and some anxiety since anyone who knows me, knows I am ruled by lists; my lists have lists).
This past Saturday, I reached number 20 with a 1-mile hike up Stone Mountain (and I do mean up) and back down. It was great fun to navigate the rock face. I didn’t know that I would love it as much as I did. I still wouldn’t know that at all if I had continued to simply talk about doing it! Shooting a gun, spending time with my granddaughter in Houston, TX for her 12th birthday, purchasing great safe skin care, hiring a personal trainer, and getting counseling were among the other goals on my list already accomplished. (Probably should have gotten counseling years ago, but it’s never too late!)
What are you talking about doing, that it is time to do?
When I tell folks my age, they seem astonished and always say, “You don’t look that old.” I always respond with, “Thank you.” The words “that old” reverberate in my ears, and remind myself of my goal to live to be 100. I am grateful that they think I look younger than my age, but I don’t consider 60 to be old. It is just a bit over half way to my goal. In fact, my Inside Tracker blood test says my Inner Age is 43.7! I’ll take that all day long. I have to work twice as hard to look half as good as I did in my 30s, but that’s not why I do it! It is worth it to me to invest in the health of my organs. After all, I am not relying on my looks for my goal to live long and strong.
What is your Inner Age? How long do you want to live?
My organs are my best friends so I do all that I can do to provide everything they need to do the job they were created to do! They depend on me. I need them. I appreciate them and they serve me well. We have a great relationship and I plan to keep it that way! After all, I can’t live without them. My brain is not as sharp as it once was, but I fuel it with healthy fats. My heart is strong and I want it to stay strong so I give it a workout every day. My immune system is strong because I don’t pollute it with toxic chemicals, and give it the power of vegetables at every meal. I’m not perfect, but I live what I teach.
How well are you fueling your brain and heart? How important are they to you? You do not want to find that out the hard way.
- You don’t have to make a list of 60 things to do by the time you turn 60, but make a list of things you want to do and do them!
