Summer is a great time to focus on a little healthy-eating self-care by nourishing your body through whole, healthy foods.  Skip the diet and just eat the foods that love you back. This whole concept is centered on building a positive relationship with food, recognizing that what you eat significantly impacts your health and overall quality of life.  It’s about choosing foods that nourish your body, promote well-being, and contribute to a healthy lifestyle.  Our goal at the Whole Food Health Coach is to help you reach a place where eating becomes a source of pleasure and nourishment rather than a source of guilt or restriction.  Understanding and implementing the following key components can transform your relationship with food, as well as your interactions with life.

Foods that love you back will:

  • Nourish the Body by providing high amounts of essential vitamins, minerals, and fiber that will support bodily function, rather than just provide caloric energy or taste.
  • Contribute to Weight Management by incorporating foods that can be consumed in higher quantities allowing you to feel full while consuming fewer calories.
  • Aid in Gut Health that is supported by consuming plant-based foods rich in fiber and antioxidants to sustain a healthy gut microbiome.
  • Help Fight Disease by reducing inflammation and supporting immune functions.
  • Promote Overall Well-being by increasing energy, positively impacting mental and emotional health, support healthy cholesterol levels, and promote cardiovascular health.
  • Include Whole, Unprocessed Foods that avoid high concentrations of added sugars, unhealthy fats, and excessive sodium.

Foods that love you back include:

  • Fruits and Vegetables: Naturally low in calories and high in nutrients and antioxidants that support immune function, digestion, and disease prevention. (leafy greens, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, bell peppers, berries, apples, bananas, oranges)
  • Whole Grains: Rich in fiber and nutrients that help control blood sugar and cholesterol levels. (oats, brown rice, and quinoa)
  • Lean Proteins: Provide essential building blocks for your body without excessive saturated fat. (Chicken, fish, beans, lentils, tofu)
  • Healthy Fats: Primarily from plant-based oils like olive and coconut oil, nuts, seeds, and avocados, which are rich in unsaturated fats that benefit heart health.
