img_6733Vitamins or Vegetables? 82% of children do not eat enough vegetables to keep them strong, healthy and smart, but vitamins are NOT the answer to this problem!  Attention all parents!  Vitamin consumption in America upsets me almost as much as prescription drug use!  And in many cases is just as dangerous.  Especially to our children.  Vegetables contain hundreds of phytonutrients, antioxidants, and the natural occurring vitamins and minerals, unlike vitamin tablets shaped like cartoon characters and sold by the billions to unsuspecting parents, and contain none of this and in most cases are as dangerous as over-the-counter drugs, with side-affects that you are buying other drugs to control (or will be).

It is no secret that I am a fan of Juice Plus!  I make no apology for it, either.  Real fruits and vegetables are the key to helping your child be strong, health, and smart!  So get them from your own garden, get them from the grocery store, or get them through me by buying Juice Plus, but GET THEM!  Stop the vitamins and here’s why I say: DITCH THE DINOSAURS!!  Here is the real truth about a famous brand. FLINSTONES VITAMINS – in my opinion, are the worst on the planet!

The dyes used are as follows:

  • FD&C Red #40 Aluminum Lake
  • FD&C Yellow #6 Aluminum Lake
  • FD&C Blue #2 Aluminum Lake
  • FD&C Blue #1
  • FD&C Red #40
  • FD&C Yellow #6

Artificial Colors ALL of them. (I should add that all of the dyes that are used in their products are approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) but I’m not sure what that says to you, but what that says to me is that I cannot trust the FDA.

The actual ingredients in a Flintstone Complete tablet are sorbitol, which is a sweetener, dicalcium phosphate, which supplies phosphorus, magnesium phosphate, a mineral supplement, choline bitartrate, a member of the B vitamin family, sodium ascorbate, a form of vitamin C, ferrous fumarate, an iron salt, gelatin, a binding agent, natural & artificial flavors (including fruit acids), pregelatinized starch, a thickener, vitamin E acetate, stearic acid, a saturated fat, carrageenan, a stabilizer made from seaweed, hydrogenated vegetable oil (soybean, castor), magnesium stearate, a form of magnesium, zinc oxide, a source of zinc, niacinamide, a B vitamin, FD&C Red #40 Lake, a dye, D-calcium pantothenate, a source of pantothenic acid, FD&C Yellow #6 Lake, a dye, aspartame, an artificial sweetener, xylitol, a sugar alcohol, FD&C Blue #2 Lake, a dye, cupric oxide, a copper supplement, pyridoxine hydrochloride, a source of vitamin B6, sucrose, table sugar, riboflavin, thiamine mononitrate, a source of thiamine, vitamin A acetate, beta-carotene, a source of vitamin A, monoammonium glycyrrhizinate, an extract from licorice root, folic acid, potassium iodide, an iodine salt, biotin, vitamin D, magnesium oxide, a source of magnesium, and vitamin B12.

  • Zinc Oxide – it’s in sun screen
